Usually women will ask how to postpone or prepone their periods because of having some function or want to go on vacation etc.
Both progesterone pills and combined oral contraceptive pills can be used for this purpose.
If you want to just prepone or postpone the periods, better to use progesterone pills.
For preponing the periods:
You have to start the progesterone pills at least 15 to20 days before your expected date of periods.
Because you have to take the progesterone tablets for 5 days.
After stopping the tablets it may take 3 to 7 days to induce withdrawal bleeding.
And the bleeding may take 5 to 6 days to stop.
For postponing the periods: Progesterone pills to be started at least 5 to 7 days prior to expected date of periods.
And have to take till the date the periods to be postponed.
After stopping the pills, in 3 to 7 days withdrawal bleeding will come usually.
Different progesterone pills are available in market.
Sufficient dose to be used to get the required effect.

hi! i am Dr sweta, also obgyn. i have experienced that sometimes, at the most, in a non pregnant patient, it can take upto 2 weeks after stopping progesterone to get periods. hence i completely agree with your idea that at least 20 days must be in hand while preponing.
